Why is there such a huge disconnect between these legal observers and the actual judges? It seems like every legal expert under the sun is like “he broke the agreement and should probably be jailed” while every single judge is like “that was very naughty mr trump, take this slap on the wrist as punishment”.

I read the article. The phrase “..any normal person…” simply doesn’t apply to Trump or his followers. I don’t like to be as nasty as Trump or his followers but, IT WOULD BE REALLY COOL AND HEART WARMING TO SEE TRUMP LOCKED UP IN A NORMAL JAIL CELL WITH ALL THE OTHER DETAINEES IN ADJACENT CELLS FOR 48 HOURS so that he can get some small taste of what normal really is and a genuine fear of justice. Make sure he gets the same meal offerings and privacy considerations as his fellow guests as well.
Whoever does the strip search is going to need trauma counseling.
