So, Ukrainian FPV drones are now killing Russian tanks at 22 km from the launch point.🤔 The speed with which FPV drone technology is advancing is making complete and utter fools of the FPV naysayers. 22km is two km short of the early production variants of the M982 Excalibur.

  1. The point about it not being one way traffic is relevant. Ukrainians had early advantage on drones, and probably still maintain first mover advantage as they continue to innovate, but russians are also deploying drones now and doing damage.

  2. There were never any FPV naysayers. Why do people feel the need to make up these claims?

  3. The FPV are quite capable now, but I still think they will only ever be usefull in this war specifically. Ukraine itself has just today revealed an automated mount for MG with targetting AI. Pair this with some additional sensor like an acoustic sensor for the high pitch noise of drones or a laser scanner and you will have very cheap systems capable of shielding any units on the ground from anything similar to what we see in this war. Bigger systems like mantis with active radar etc. exist already anyway.

  4. The use case for FPV is expanding. Now they are being used as rapid remote deployed mines to ambush infantry and vehicles.

  5. I know a Belarusian guy who likes to drink & invent stuff.

One day he got drunk & decided he wanted a 3d printer, so he built one.

Later he wanted a drone…it went 100+km/hr until we destroyed it.

If my dude was not such a drunk twat, he might have helped massively with his “inventing” stuff.
