Old photo found folded up in the back of a drawer. Sorry about the quality. Any ideas of what it is ? Possibly an Old IRA unit? The caps look a bit weird.

i’m guessin’ those Smith & Wessons had their safety-catches on…
The “chef boys”. Dublin inner city gang circa 1930. Known for their distinctive toque style hats they ran a protection racket in Dublin, extorting money from almost every restaurant and kitchen.
Simpler and more violent times.
They are old IRA caps the band was to keep them on so they ended up looking like baker hats.
I have seen photos of someone wearing these and was told by an elderly person that’s what they were now I could be wrong but they’re identical. The photos I seen were from the 30s.
Could it be a picture of performers from a play?
IDF boys from back in the day?
Jackeen Blinders
It’s all the IRA chef of staff together at the same time.
Is that Willie O’Dea, front row, second from left?

When I first saw it, I thought Tipperary IRA. This is a pic of the 3rd Brigade, Tipp IRA 1921

If it looks like a genuine photo you might well contact a photo archivist in the National Archive in Temple Bar or the National Library.

The ‘old IRA’ one instead of just IRA. Typical freestaters.
