> Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is being cited as one of the main reasons that President Joe Biden became even more worried about the effects of artificial intelligence.
>According to Deputy White House Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, he and Biden watched the movie one weekend at Camp David.
>”If he hadn’t already been concerned about what could go wrong with AI before that movie, he saw plenty more to worry about,” Reed told the Associated Press.
Reminds me of Ronald Regan and the Death Star.
Yeah right, I’m sure the military and alphabet agencies are all balls deep in AI.
The AI videos of him gaming with Trump and Obama necessitated a strong and brutal response
It’s a truly bad sign for this country when we have politicians who are better suited for nursing homes than governing making decisions that effect critical bleeding edge technology like AI. Lord help us
I mean, “A.I.” is still pretty stupid. The bigger threat is mankind itself.
Ut oh, grandpas seen the movie, he’s gone hysterical!!
Without being morbid, President Biden will likely be deceased before AI reaches the point of being dangerous – if it ever does.
Hollywood =/= real life, and the rapid development of AI in every sector does not foreshadow a Skynet problem. ‘Intelligence’ is not *agency.* AI can’t even solve the trolley problem satisfactorily. It’ll be a long time before it will be trusted to look after anything important.
That’s good? How long before tactical A.I. that mess with elections or ask how to make a better more dangerous weapon or exploit the underclass or discriminate more efficiently. Sure, there’s some pretty funny cute “A.I. gone rogue” but if you look at it as radicals being abel to Google anything, like the examples above, it’s pretty potentially scary.
My favorite part of this story, is people will bash the hell out of him for this, but at the same time if you post about AI doing literally anything someone will say “So skynet?”
This is a pure propaganda fluff piece. I bet he hasn’t even seen the film. The goal is to make Biden relatable and current by recycling the Regan story about nuclear war from the 80s. All I see in this is a stunning lack of imagination and (justifiably) zero faith in the American people.
