Beware of Genrui antigens tests – false positives all over the place!

  1. Get any other make you can!

Personal experience – faint lines for 2 people across four Genrui tests, followed up by 4 negatives by other brands (NHS etc) and negative PCRs.

  2. Been getting them in Lidl for a while now and they’ve been bang on right through Xmas while I had COVID. I’ll know if they’re talking shite now if they give a positive again in the next month or two.

  3. These are on the EU approved antigen test list too. Would be a fairly big fuck up if they are proven to be very inaccurate.

  4. My partner got a positive with these tests. She’s booked in for a PCR test Monday, but she has zero symptoms and were stumped on how she got it as she weve seen no one but her parents who are both the exact same and have had negative PCR tests recently.

I reckon it’s a false positive considering this, but we’re isolating anyway just in case. She’s going a bit stir crazy in the other room ATM.

I’ve been only getting negatives so far with the same tests.

  5. I’ve read multiple reports of false positive Genrui tests on Reddit, Twitter and Boards.ie.
Seems to be a lot of people reporting false positives with Genrui.
I’m current awaiting PCR results – in the last two days I’ve multiple faint line (positive) Genrui tests and multiple negative Flowflex tests.
I’ll update when I get the PCR result.

Update: PCR came back negative. Beware of Genrui.

  6. Last week my wife used one of these and got a faint positive the rest of us were negative but had used different brand. She got a PCR and was negative. Couple of days ago I got a faint positive line of this type but used another brand next day and it was negative. They are definitely dodgy!

  7. We’ve had a mix of brands and we’ve had 2
False positives off these ones so we don’t use them. Both PCR tests have come back clear both times.

  8. Got a false positive off one of these tests a few days ago. Four days in isolation waiting for a test and results. Zero fucking fun.

  9. Thanks for the heads up. Did one today and had a very faint line showing positive.
Don’t have any symptoms and there is no chance I have covid. Did a different test a few mins later and negative.

  10. I got 3 false positives on genrui. I isolated even though I got 6 negatives on other brands. Received a negative pcr yesterday. The whole situation caused a lot of stress for the 7 of us in my household. It’s shocking that such a faulty product can be on the market. One of my friends has had the exact same experience and is awaiting a pcr result.

  11. I had THREE positive Genrui tests (very faint lines) but because I saw this post I tried another brand and it was negative. Had a PCR to confirm and the PCR was also negative. Genrui is completely unreliable.

  12. Had false positive on 23 Dec with Genru. Was negative on other brands and negative PCR. Took a Genru test again today out of curiosity and it came back positive! No symptoms. Beware of these tests

  13. My mother did 2 Genrui tests in a row and came up positive-did a PCR the next day > negative. After the PCR, she did a FlowFlex which gave a negative. A week later, she was again ‘positive’ on a Genrui test but did ANHUI Deep Blue from Aldi and this was negative. These Genrui tests seem to be junk, at least this batch – or perhaps they’ve gone beyond their best before date prematurely (?).

  14. Did one of these yesterday was negative after 20 minutes. Grand so met my friends, got back in the car after and there was a faint grey line on it, so I was worried I’ve met people whole positive, so took one with another brand which was negative. PCR today for travel also negative. Shitty thing is I’ve bought 12 of these things!

Myself and my dad gave just stained with without testing ourselves to see if this happens without testing will report back in an hour.
