Someone give me a good reason why this isn’t the standard.

  1. Too busy shagging sheep and walking in circles to oush for equal rights.

  2. I like this. I want this to be the flag for my country. It’s got a freaking dragon on it!

  3. I know it’s a meme but in case anyone’s actually interested why… it’s because when the Union Flag was created in 1606, Wales was a principality that was united with England already.

  4. I could understand putting a green line in or something, but the dragon is too distinctive, it’d overpower everything else.

  5. England annexed Wales before the act of Union. The original Union flag was only the Scottish flag on top of the English. Later addition of the Irish flag after it joined the Union. Wales was not party to the Union and was never, has never had its consent sought for it..

  6. Googled it for you: The Welsh dragon does not appear on the Union Flag. This is because when the first Union Flag was created in 1606, the Principality of Wales by that time was already united with England and was no longer a separate principality. The Union Flag was originally a Royal flag.
