2.13% of the population confirmed positive over the last 7 days
That’s a lot of numbers
Very early today
I think the 20k mark probably represents the limit of our testing abilities more than the actual infection rate. Its almost impossible to get PCR tests at the moment.
I’d guess that, given we have a ~50% positivity rate, that we can only carry out about 50,000 tests per day.
The actual infection rate is probably a multiple of what we are seeing
Oh shit.

I know it’s only one day of data but way things were going I didn’t think there was going to be any day with hospital numbers going down until we reached peak
What varient? Or is it guess work.
By Jayous now that’s a numbering!
Feels weird to look at those figures and think “Fuck….I’m in there somewhere”
I’ve all the symptoms. Havent been able to find and appointment for the last 2 days. Might look into getting it done privately if I cant book in. Work are gunna be on my case if I don’t have one done. Spend more money on a test than what I earn. Yippy.
That’s a numberwang!
Am I the only one looking at the current numbers and thinking it’s all going to be over by the end of January?
So many people have it right now and its so infectious that there’s no avoiding it. The hardest of hard lickdowns won’t stop the spread.
It’ll be a horrible month but it’s hard to see us not getting to herd immunity in the next few weeks.
Whats the story with the case numbers being released at different hours every day.
Officially we’re probably never going to break 25k because we’re unable to test enough but in reality we’re probably already well over 30,000. A bit ironic that our inability to comprehensively test is letting us off the hook in terms of having absolutely staggering infections being officially reported. I saw somewhere that 1 in 10 people are self isolating in the whole country now.
But at least the virus only transmits after 8pm at gaff parties, and not in schools or the other hours of the day, right?
With infections the way they are, and supposedly lowballing our actual figures, combined with the boosters flying out we must be near herd immunity at this stage
I know seven people who tested positive in the last week including myself and we are all still waiting for a PCR. So these numbers are definitely low.
I’m in those numbers too. Picked up COVID just before Christmas and got tested after.
What’s surprising to me is that, having been vaxxed and boosted, my symptoms were really no more than a cough and a slight sensation in my lungs. I’ve had worse bronchitis in the past.
Imagine what that figure would be if the pubs opened till 12. Less or more or indifferent. Can’t be too much more at the very worst so back to normal hours in my opinion.
Less people in hospital and the icu. Good news
Highest number of cases all year, stay safe guys
Divisible
I have covid (confirmed antigens, dying sick), finally got a PCR in the airport test center in cork. Text says Arive at the time, I arrive ten minutes early because it says you can’t come in early. Fucking queue is two hours long. Mind it’s walk in so you are outside in the cold and rain. No way was I staying. This country would want a serious kick up the hole.
Those figures are probably double that, I had 3 positive antigen tests, I have to wait 6 days for a PCR test!
Thank god schools are safe….
Glad I went for a walk in booster today
I know it’s only one day but I’m glad to see the hospital numbers drop. With the virus being so prevalent in the community any drop is encouraging.
More like 40/50k
Half the country has it it’s like 10x this.
Oooh just 10 more in hospital and the conspiracy nuts would’ve screamed devil worship!!

Great start to the new year
