  1. At least it’s drawn correctly.

    Not like r/hailhortler

  2. >Comparisons between Israeli policy and that of Nazis are regarded as a form of anti-Semitism.

“Regarded” by the people enacting the “policies”? Convenient.

If the shoe fits? Scream about antisemitism to scare everyone away!

  3. Eh, I don’t know man. The star of David is on the Israeli flag, and they are an ethno state with probably the most militarised society in the world, with one of their coalition parties thats called “Jewish Power,” and has been supporting a campaign of ethnic cleansing in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. They also gained negotiated for a specific police squad for the leader of that faction and the government has been trying to weaken democratic institutions which would strengthen the government powers. Thisball before the current situation in Gaza…

Not that antisemitism should be let anywhere near the conversation and the threat of it should be taken extremely seriously. There is more context here.

  4. “anti-Semetic” is an incorrect term here.

Criticising Israel doesn’t make one anti-Semetic. Comparing Israel to the Nazis doesn’t make one anti-Semetic.

Calling them Nazis is a difficult bridge to gap, but we lack any kind of well recognised symbol for violent fascism, so I guess for some people the swastika is close enough.

  5. For the morons on here that don’t know: the Star of David has been a symbol which dates back to 17th century Prague. This is before the state of Israel was founded in 1948.

Again, for all the morons on here: putting a Star of David on a Jew’s home, place of business or synagogue was antisemitic behaviour historically and in many European countries, is considered to be antisemitic and a hate crime today.

Also, for the morons on here: Czechoslovakia pre-1938 had more Jews than Ireland and historically, we know this quite well as we were under Nazi occupation as well. So, using any Nazi comparison makes you a moron.

  6. Its funny how quiet the dog whistle and microaggression brigade have been during this whole situation – its been a real mask off moment for them.

  7. As someone who is completely opposed to what Israel have been doing to the Palestinians, I do also worry about people using this conflict to air there antisemitism and disguising it as anti-zionism. The graffiti above is clearly wrong and anyone saying otherwise are probably too pro-Palestinian to concede this point. Two wrongs don’t make a right and this graffiti is obviously showing hostility towards people who aren’t even involved in this conflict, assuming there are Jews in Waterford, otherwise why even do this in the first place?
