As per title I always say to my wife that I can see churches in the future closing. Everytime I drive past a church 90% are oldies. Give it 20 years and those numbers will be down to nothing. I feel its the churches own fault. Old people where pressured and forced into worshipping God. The newer generations are seeing the dark side and turning their back on the church. On the flip side I wonder is that whey the younger generations are little inconsiderate shite bags.

  1. An undertaker told in another few they simply won’t be able to get priests to do funerals as the average age is somewhere in the mid to late 60s.

  2. Will be delighted to see it happen. Ireland for much of the 20th century was a Catholic theocracy. A dictatorship in order words. Imagine that until 1996 there were still women being sold into slavery and their children stolen from them and sold to people at home and abroad. Evil cunts

  3. Fuck sake this is the stupidest post I’ve seen in a while. People where assholes when everyone followed a religion just shit was covered up.

  4. I do wonder what the church will look like in 20 years. Regardless of people’s attendance the real death knell is the lack of priests, because even the believers don’t want to go in to it.

I watched that special “The Confessors” one year out of morbid curiousity of what the life of a priest was like and I have to admit, all opinions of the organization aside it seemed like a terribly lonely and unfulfilled life.

I suspect regardless of what the church says today, it’s inevitable that they’ll have to make changes allowing lay people to lead ceremonies in the next 10-15 years because at the moment the average age of a priest is something like 80 as it stands they have abysmal new priests.

  5. Funny part of your post is the last sentence, given how they’re just reciprocating the last of consideration given to them. It’s as philosophically messy as a chicken and egg sandwich.
