Biden and aides are a week and a half behind my Israeli coworker.
Everything I’m hearing leak about how the Biden admin is building future strategies while managing current ones, like this and the international peacekeeping force, make me so happy competent people are in charge right now.
I’ll be honest. I don’t know why he’s back. Fuck him going back quite a while
The real question is will he be succeeded by an even bigger fascist or will Israel “the only proper democracy in the middle east” elect a reasonable leader to actually try and resolve the crisis.
He must know he’s done. Smartest thing to do would be to announce that he will resign after the war. His legacy is destroyed, he can salvage some dignity and respect by going out without a fight.
Bibi have you seen my dog? It was here a minute ago.
Would Netanyahu cede power peacefully?
How about a moderate or a centrist next, maybe? Or just anyone not super far right.
Netanyahu in 2019: “Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas This is part of our strategy — to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”
Yeah think he’s done.
And no successor of Biden will ask him anything, because his presidency is a waste. If America wasn’t still a strong country, it would have collapsed because of this administration.
He shouldn’t last. Indications are help keep Hamas afloat. Not sure why.
I also am convinced he knew of the attack and did nothing. No grand conspiracy, just order “Continue to monitor but take no other actions” is all that would be needed.
He thought it would just be another small attack, maybe a few dozen dead and he could do the “look at me less in a time of crisis” thing that could be easily managed with a few targeted strikes. Instead it was a massive, coordinated strikes with Hamas prepared for a much larger and longer fight then expected due to his bad order.
Bibi will most definitely go home after the next elections and possibly to jail after a national board of inquiry, but not now, after the war.
He shouldn’t, he’s part of the reason the cycle continues
> [U.S. officials] also point to the wave of public reporting about the massive Israeli intelligence failures and predict that any forthcoming internal Israeli assessment — and one done by their American counterparts — will likely be even more damning, dealing more of a blow to Netanyahu.
I sure hope so – Netanyahu has talked a big game about Israel’s safety, but I think he has made himself the priority above its national interest at every turn… the recent court crisis not least among the occasions!
Edit: grammar
Guys. Wherever you stand on this conflict, if you’re on the American left, we can all agree on one thing: Fuck Netanyahu
Honestly, the best thing for Israel would be if Bibi would step down now before this is over.
I think in a fucked up way we may be lucky Bibi was in office when this happened. Hear me out. This was planned for over a year and if it wasn’t Bibi in office you can be sure as fuck his supporters would have been saying this never would have happened under Bibi.
That aside, too many are afraid that Bibi will draw out this conflict because he sees the writing on the wall. I hope that’s not true. I really think he at least used to have Israels best intent at heart. I think he still does, but he may, like other politicians, be blinded and think that him staying in power is the only way to protect Israel.
Never underestimate estimate Israelis’s power to elect this man time after time after time.
Biden is once again weeks behind everyone else. This is just embarrassing.
As well as Israelis. There hasn’t been a single poll in months where he even gets close to forming a coalition and that’s before his huge failure now. He built his whole career on being Mr. Security and being the reason Israelis are safe and he can’t say that anymore. His major rival in the next election is Benny Gantz. He and two others in his party list are former Cheif of Staffs of the IDF (and my guess is that one more will join after he is allowed to join politics). Polls show him and his coalition winning by a large margin.
Netanyahu is most definitely not done yet. A material destruction of Hamas will be a great boost to his coalition, no matter saving the hostages.
He had to be gone years ago. I remember when he threatened Mexico, that’s when I knew he was a psycho.
As an Israeli, all I can say is that 200% of Netanyahu’s efforts go towards political survival. For all his many, many faults, the man is a political genius that manipulates the Israeli public so well that he even has Israeli-Arab voters while being in a government with Ben-Gvir and Smotrich.
He may look done from the outside, and I may hope he is, but I absolutely would not count him out.
I do hope Biden is right… Netanyahu has done nothing but slowly destroying Israel for nearly 15 years
Well, hoping they toss him out like Uncle Phil tossing out Jazzy Jeff.
