I stumbled across a video from someone (it might have been the same person with the petition) that had spoken to former contestants and they had a shit time
It’s fat shaming on telly, nothing more, nothing less.
Has Operation Transformation had any success whatsoever in reducing obesity? It seems like very few actual participants – let alone ordinary people following along – manage to make long term changes.
Not surprising given how incredibly hard that is.
I suspect that neither these folks nor Operation Transformation have the healthiest approach to the subject
What exactly is wrong with people losing weight?
I knew one person on this. He was proud of being on it. He was obese, and still was. Infact, he was heavier than he had ever been. These shows are just modern day freak shows.
I hope all this is a joke tbh
But obesity is literally not healthy, It’s highly dependant on bmi. And they haven’t attempted to convince anyone empirical science has already done that. Look lads it’s all about mobility the older you get and the more weight you have on you the more your body is going to be stressed and strained and your quality of life will be poor. I DO NOT CARE BE FAT IF YOU WANT TO BE FAT. But don’t for a second twist decades of science to support your stupid narrative. If ya disagree with me touch your toes…..
The premise of this show is terrible and I refuse to watch it. Fat (I use this as an adjective and not an insult) people are not here for entertainment. We don’t have shows trying to convince people diabetes, alcoholism and smoking are unhealthy but we do with fatness.
If people want to change their lives, good for them but public shaming does not work. Even the tone of this of this post is terrible. People know what they look like for the most part. Shame only triggers deeper and darker feelings. Let’s try and be supportive to each other.
People might be fat for reasons we don’t know. They could be eating their feelings due to unresolved sexual abuse trauma. Or recovering from health problems. Or an eating disorder. Let people live their lives.
I think it’s humiliating too having people being weighed like that on national tv, with the presenter looking all glam and there opposite what seem like judges, okay ‘experts’ – it’s a reality tv formula.
It would be better if they shared an episode on Vincent Fellitti’s research on weight loss, he showed that people who were obese, as a protective factor, they experienced varying forms of trauma in their life.
Even for people who restrict food such shows are dangerous and triggering.
I dont think the show is watchable. But this bullshit of pretending being fat is healthy or people are the victims of anything beyond shoving too much food in their faces is insane.
People complaining this fat shaming when there was a show literally called “biggest loser”.
I don’t think fat people should be shamed or insulted just for being fat, we can be sound. But the people pushing for an end to “diet culture” or insisting that being fat is healthy can pipe down.
I’d see it as like smoking. If you want to smoke, then that’s your own business (unless you smoke in an enclosed area etc) and anyone shaming for your own decision can get fecked.
But if you start parading around insisting that smoking is healthy and not a risk, you’re either delusional or a scumbag.
I would agree that things like Slimming World need to end. Focusing on weight solely and calling your food Syns is basically eating disorder territory.
Bait
Ah Fat Birds, where would we be without their jolly stupidity.
Diet culture isn’t good, because “diets” don’t work. They’re not saying that losing weight is bad, just that it’s done in an unhealthy way on the show. Which it is from what I’ve seen, it’s unsustainable.
Lmao, chickatee dust covered stubs made this post.
The government and the opposition have really dropped the ball here in completely failing to even begin handling this, our most pressing issue of our generation
I just got blocked from a wedding group because I suggested some diet advice, based on scientific studies by Dr Michael Moseley and Dr Clare Bailey. Seems like no one is ever meant to acknowledge that losing weight can actually be a good thing
