I’m sort of a bit speechless around how someone thought this would be funny. It’s not ‘banter’ – may as well dress up as Saddam Hussein or Hitler.
This is extraordinarily poor taste but arresting him? Seriously? We can’t even make it to burglary’s and they’re wasting their time on this?
Anyone asking “how is this illegal?” If in doubt, its section 5 of the Public Order Act.
How many people need to be offended by something before the police arrest you? 5? 10?
oi! have you got a license for that fancy dress costume?

i mean at marches up and down the country people can literally glorify hamas and call for murder, but you cant wear a costume, even if it is in poor taste. rofl. this country
I might have to reconsider my Jimmy Savile costume.
Jesus christ the backslide towards victorian moral outrage is terrifying.
Is this an example of the nanny state that we’re not supposed to be living in?
Policing in this country is a joke. Won’t do shit about actual crime but they’ll arrest people for wearing Halloween costumes? Obviously the costume is poor taste but why the fuck is that a police matter?
Who cares if it’s offensive? Be offended.
So the police don’t have time to stopping burglaries, bike thieves, and fraud, but they have plenty of time to deal with… offensive costumes?
Police are a joke. They really need to get their priorities in order if they truly are under-resourced like they claim.
The police in the UK are clowns. Every time I’ve needed them they’ve been disinterested bordering on abusive but they have time for a crass Halloween costume? Easy paperwork I suppose.
Burgle a house and the police don’t care.
Wear a poor taste costume for Halloween, get arrested.
🤡
I wish the British police paid this much systematic attention to rapists and grooming gangs.
He was also cutting about with a bag that said “Boom TNT” on it. I can see why that could be distressing. I’m not sure an arrest was needed but they probably did him a favour because I can imagine there would have been plenty of people out that night who wouldn’t have found his costume very funny at all.
It’s good to know that the police are spending their time and resources so wisely.
If only they’d been so proactive at the actual bombing
Did they really need to arrest him? Not just say come on man that’s a bit poor taste, go change.
Is this the 1 about that guy walking around trick or treating dressed as a Hamas fighter or is this a different 1?
Arresting people in fancy dress is far safer for them than confronting drug dealers. Gang of lads outside the house selling gear? Best send a community support officer. Could get messy. They are cowards and should be reformed.
So screaming jihad in the streets of London doesn’t get you arrested, dressing up as someone does. Interesting.
Police didn’t even arrest the manchester arena bomber – for fear of being called racist.
But they arrest soft targets like this
It’s frustrating how much time the police spend protecting feelings that may or may not be hurt, while they seem not to have the resources to focus on crimes that genuinely impact our quality of life.
The actual offence he was arrested over sounds very open to interpretation and somewhat vague. Surely it should be less of a priority than a robbery, or assault, or a gang of little shits being little shits towards other people and closer to something like a speeding offence, if it has to be an offence at all, which is questionable.
