Shell really earned it. Us consumers should be proud of the privilege to pay inflated prices and struggle while Shell execs sleep soundly on their piles of money.
Great, now tell me that we need higher mortgage rates and lower wages to fight inflation
And people will blame JSO rather than these greedy executives for the inflated price we pay.
Another job well done. They worked hard with grit and determination. Plus no avacados on toast for company meetings is keeping those expenses down.
Sigh… why did I sell my holding in this company due to fomo. It was such a nice and consistent dividend stock.
Of course they make a profit if the price of oil rises. Oil shortages are just market manipulation. Same with supermarkets. Cost of living rises are the result of greed
“A job well done, boys, we’re killing it out there! Gimme another high-five! Woohoo, HELL YEAH!”
With a turnover of $400bn what is an acceptable amount of profit?
Thank god, those poor shareholders must be relieved.
There is always a sizable segment of the population who wonder how governments can pay out for green initiatives and conservation efforts.
I think we just found out who should be one of our major financial contributors.
To everyone stop letting out your anger on the internet and take action
Great news for the majority of people in the UK because we all pay into pension funds, and I think it’s likely that 90% of us indirectly own shares in Shell through our company pension pot.
This is the reality of what drives ‘growth forever’ capitalism – it’s that ‘growth’ in the stock markets that has been paying out for all of our retirements for at least the past half a century.
Retirement didn’t exist in any appreciable form for pensioners before the 60s. Most of them worked until they died without a penny saved to their name.
Capitalism delivered us all from that brutal end.
You can open a SIPP and instruct your employer to pay into that instead if you’d rather manage your own pension and choose your own companies to invest in – but most environmentalists don’t do this and continue funding the companies they protest against.
But remember, net zero is definitely too expensive and isn’t being delayed by oil and gas companies lobbying.
Always needs mentioning on these threads, but Shell don’t control the price of the oil they sell.
The majority of people on this sub will own shares in Shell through their pension fund. Their retirement savings will be directly funding their drilling and getting a return which pays towards their own reitrement.
What’s more they all have the ability to redirect their pension contributions into a SIPP and manage their own investments towards sustainable companies. Most Redditors are too lazy to do this because it takes more effort than social media preaching.

The hypocrisy.
