Mike Johnson Has Already Run Out of Ideas—The new speaker’s doomed, ridiculous plan to trade funding for Israel for IRS cuts suggests he is even more powerless than Kevin McCarthy.

  1. Why do we assume Johnson had actual ideas to begin with? That would require thinking, which is not a Christo-nationalists strong suit.

  2. One hundred percent support

Stop forgetting really important things almost immediately

  3. I don’t know if it makes him more powerless, or just someone who’s doing a bad faith, half hearted attempt to make it look like he’s trying to help govern while in actuality trying to grind the whole governmental machine to a halt because if they can’t have what they want then nobody can.

  4. Mike “Limp Dick” Johnson’s time has come and gone already. Is this all the Republicans have to offer? Another Trump candidate down the toilet.

  5. The press is going to dance around how this guy is doing exactly what he thinks is good for his theocratic authoritarian friends. This isn’t a joke. This is a plan.

  6. Plan your Thanksgiving (and Christmas, to be honest) travel accordingly, America. A shutdown is coming.

  7. Just crack open the Bible there’s all kinds of fresh new ideals in there…

  8. As long as he had this position, he is a real danger. Don’t celebrate just yet.

  9. Also, Maga Mike doesn’t have ideas. They are being spoonfed to him by the ~~SS~~ I mean maga leadership.

  10. So clearly he is better at obsessing about the sex lives of others than legislating. Can we just drop him off at some street corner so he can fulfill his fantasies?

  11. He actually believes that Americans are as dumb as he hopes.

  12. Does this guy have a one-man recall against him like McCarthy did?

  13. These guys will gripe about the deficit but never support the wealthy paying their share.

  14. The deficit is too big! Let’s cut our revenue source… Says unserious republican goof balls

  15. That’s where his money went! He helped fund the IRS because he didn’t want all those people losing their jobs because he is by definition “good” because he’s a “Christian”. 😃👍

  16. Israel can defend itself against terrorism without any help from the US. We need a functioning IRS collecting money from rich tax cheats more than we need more dead Palestinians.

  17. You are supposed to attach shit like this to a “must pass” piece of legislation, not a “we would like to do this” piece of legislation.

  18. Maybe the republicans should adopt a Speaker du jour approach. A new Speaker every day.

  19. He never had ideas to begin with. It’s just give everything to his donors. He is buried up to his neck in lobbyist donations.

  20. Biden will break this guy in just like the last one.

If republicans want power they might want to start by advocating policies that people will vote for.

  21. He is nothing more than a maga ventriloquist dummy. His plans and ideas are reflections of poorly developed maga talking points.

  22. He is just here to slow progress, to kill and slow roll any progress Democrats could make.

Mr. “No bank accounts, nothing to see here” is doing exactly what he is supposed to.

    More faces of weaponized incompetence.

  23. Good thing it’s not suspicious that the person with no fucking bank accounts in his name or family’s names wants the IRS cut.

    Sure that’s just a coincidence.

  24. You can like or hate McConnell or Pelosi, but these two were superstar politicians with keen abilities to work Congress and move their party’s agenda.

I’m not sure such a young, radical politician is going to have any effectiveness, besides for sowing chaos and division… and ultimately, not passing legislation.

  25. When you’re addicted to the one armed succubus in Reno and your only bank account is in Moscow you don’t have a lot of options.

  26. In the 2022 election only 5.6% of campaign contributions came from small dollar donations. The rest is wealth donors, PACs and lobbyists.

  27. Next up, to prevent a shutdown he’ll request the sacrifice of all first born sons. Hey it’s in the Bible so it’s all good!

  28. Bipartisanship IS power. The funny thing about their growing autocratic tendencies is that it sort of starts to eat itself. What power do you really have if you can’t accomplish anything? MAGA needs to go kick the can.

  29. lol “don’t hold us financially accountable if you want war funding” is such a fucking weird tactic.

  30. Well yeah this zealot advocates for the exact same kind of hateful bullshit as the Westboro Baptist Church, and they’re none too popular.

  31. He’s going from relatively unknown, to a sudden center of attention, to someone who’s useless… I just a few weeks. Way to go GOP.

  32. He has no idea what he is doing. His only hope would be moderate bills that could get bipartisan support, but that goes against everything the modern GOP has become… so he will accomplish nothing.

  33. He looks like a serial killer in a James Patterson novel

  34. You can’t fund something but cutting the SOURCE of funds. Fucking morons.

  35. That might be the most biased headline I’ve read in a long time. I don’t know him nor do I have opinions on his approach but the author seriously needs to take a refresher journalism class.

  36. Republicans don’t have ‘ideas’ to begin with. they have recycled failed policies that they slap a new coat of paint on and try and sell to you for ten over the asking price.

  37. He could try …negotiating with the opposition. I know it’s unheard of but still.
