I’ve seen it lots of times on the highway, it looks like the sorting hat of hogwarts, there’s a green and a red version of it, and sometimes it appears with a vehicle on the left side, like in this picture. I’m very curious, can you help?

It’s for snow plow drivers. At the red sign they have to stop pushing the snow off the side, usually because there is a road, railway or whatever below it and you don’t want unnecessary amounts of snow falling down and at the green sign they can push it off the side again.
