> Ukraine has developed a new electronic warfare system aiming to defend against Russian drones, Ukraine’s Digital Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced. The locally produced Piranha AVD 360 system, created by Ukrainian company Piranha-Tech, creates a defense perimeter extending 600 meters around armored vehicles that jams the signals controlling Russian drones.
>
> The jamming tech forces drones to go off course or crash before they can strike by preventing them from receiving commands or transmitting data. It also blocks satellite navigation systems like Russia’s GLONASS. Piranha has been tested in the field and is ready for mass production, according to Fedorov.
It might be better to be kept in the dark about its main specs, but if it’s a smaller unit that can be produced in larger quantities it’ll be an invaluable aid against drones they urgently. If it can jam Lancets too even better, but anything that can give the AFU a means to counter drones that aren’t bulkier EW systems is a major add.
Ukraine should join forces with Taiwan in developing antidrone tech and mass production. They both need it badly.
A hard-counter to lancets would be (to use a cringe phrase) “game changing”.
This is cat and mouse. Both sides are heavily invested in drones and EW.
This has already been so full of surprises, what else is there?
