Regarding the article… In general, the situation is very absurd.
In 1995-2021 years, Ukraine expected from the West that in case of Russia’s attack the West, at least somehow, will begin to defend it.
After all, civilized democracy should help civilized democracy, right?
But instead of protection, Ukraine received a war from one side and prolongation of the war from another.
Where for Russia unacceptable Ukrainian victory. And for the West unacceptable Ukrainian victory and Ukrainian defeat.
And all of this because of something that not long ago Ukraine had in abundance and what can still easily create. But what was taken away and prohibited in exchange for something that de facto does not exist.
At the same time, everyone pretends that everything is completely different than it really is.
Yeah at this point Ukraine should push for a peace deal and quit sacrificing more men and women.
The greatest mistake in warfare is underestimating the enemy.
While people are quick to point out the abysmal state of the russian military, they are still fighting. That is a fact that cannot be ignored.
Hard read. If Ukraine hasn’t been given the means to keep driving Russia back then it allows Russia to assert its terror more freely over the occupied territories.
Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians under occupation will be outright killed, starved, dragged to state run torture chambers like those discovered in Kharkiv, the women raped by Russian soldiers free of repercussions and children kidnapped and shipped into deep Russia. In the meantime Ukrainian culture and history will be cleansed and Russians shipped in to occupy the homes of the murdered civilians.
People try to prop up the insane idea that ceasefire or peace agreements will stop the loss of life when it will merely redirect it to the vulnerable civilians, bereft of defence. The bots and propagandists are leaping on every mention of the stalemate to sell their rhetoric.
A stalemate is not a ceasefire or peace agreement.
And if ever such an agreement was made Russia will rebuild a new invasion force and Putin will wipe his arse with it the first time he sees himself at a military advantage again.
Unless Ukraine is given new capabilities they can only hope the Russian economy and regime will crumble while they maintain defence and pressure.
I respect his honesty.
You can always count on America to precisely calculate how much it will take to barely win a war, then do a little bit less.
