Almost 700 Dutch people visited Belgium before testing positive

  1. At minimum, plenty more haven’t been tested or don’t mention they went to Belgium for shopping.

They don’t seem to grasp the fact that as long as they keep up comming here the measures in the Netherlands will keep getting worse if cases keep rising.

  2. It’s just UNIZO’s biochemical warfare strategy. We keep the stores open, the Dutch come here and infect eachother, after which they return to their country and make sure their curve isn’t going down, meaning more lockdown & closed stores for them, so they keep coming to Belgium, leaving precious moneyzzzz behind. It’s basically a self-sustaining ecosystem. Sure, there is some collateral damage in the form of infected shopkeepers, but hey, all is fair and square in the land of consumerism. All for the greater good and the *fiscus*!

  3. It really irked me how BDW said “Wir schaffen das” about this, after having mocked Merkel for the same phrase even though his predictions of refugee doom for Germany were way off the mark.

That and Kennis’ “these are normal visitor numbers, there were always this many people here *before the pandemic started*”.

  4. I work in a detail store in the heart of Antwerpen and it is a living hell atm. I mean I like selling and Dutch people do buy stuff but they barge in almost unmasked with an entire family. Also I am very tired of keeping my eye on everyone.

  5. It’s really surprising people from the Netherlands come to shop in Belgium since most things are far more expensive here.
Also the e-commerce side of things is better in the Netherlands than here.

Maybe they just want to drink from the premium Cara Pils cans.

  6. If you hear people pronouncing their Gs with their throats and hearing words like “mondmaskjes” instead of “mondmaskers”, time to run.

  7. Was making a quick drive on tuesday morning through antwerp city and i was literally surrounded by dutch numberplates

  8. Rant time!

As a Belgian that moved to the Netherlands, I want to offer my experience during this whole pandemic and especially the times lockdown tules differed between our two countries:

Belgium, stop fucking obsessing over the Netherlands so much, every fucking time there’s a difference, Belgium complains about the Netherlands.

Netherlands goes into lockdown while Belgium doesn’t? **Raaaaaa, those evil bad dutch people come over our borders and infect us!**

Belgium goes into lockdown while the Netherlands doesn’t? **Reeeeeeeee, those irresponsible dutch people don’t go into lockdown, so they cause our citizens to go over the border, undermine the effect of out lockdown, and infect each other!!!**

Dear fucking god, I get nothing but messages from my Belgian family crying about how apparently the Netherlands is going everything horribly, because that is the take your media has stuck to for the last two fucking years.

Remember the start of vaccination? Belgium couldn’t stop talking about how the Netherlands was behind while Belgium already “started” vaccinating. In reality Belgium gave a few hundred shots, all with plenty of media coverage, in the *three weeks* before NL started. Jesus fucking Christ, as if that difference matters at all. Right now the vaccination rates are vritually identical: 76 and 77%>

And there used to be constant coverage on how bad the numbers were in the Netherlands, yet right now Belgium has TWICE as many deaths per Capita as the Netherlands.

So, Belgium: please mind your own fucking business, it’s exhausting.

Man,man,man..

  10. Dutchy here living in Brussel working in Antwerp region. Can Confirm…. to much Dutchies there that just don’t care about anything. Most of these people are just the ….. let’s say it kinda kampers / wappies / less educated people mostly that think they are the center of the universe and because they are in another country they don’t have to follow any rules (if they even already follow the rules in their own country)

  11. Just as I’m reading this post in the car on the road I see a dutch car plate in front of us. I counted 5 heads and one extra in the trunk that popped out while an ambulance was coming through. It’s getting crazy what people are willing to do in order to come here.

  13. When people from Brussels even think about going to the coast during this pandemic, immediate measures are taken to keep them out.

But when insane amounts of Dutch people start washing over the border to escape a lockdown, suddenly there’s nothing the government can do.

The cynic in me feels that the rights you have are directly tied to the amount of disposable income you intend to spend.
