1. Sure would be nice if we had the powers over energy policy like any normal, independent country, huh? 🥴

   TL;DR Ofgem, the UK regulator, is to blame for the Standing Charges being as extortionate as they are.

   They have chosen to keep the cap high to allow energy giants to profiteer off of the cost of living crisis.
