Belgium in the 50s/60s seems like a completely different country, aggressively messing around in other countries’ politics etc. Can you imagine us being even remotely interested in that nowadays? Can you imagine our current governments able to arrange this? They can’t even agree on the simplest things, let alone decide in secret to assassinate a political figure.
Or am I being naive and shit like this is still happening, and we’ll hear about it in 60 years?

“Oh silly Belgium!”
*Laugh track intensifies*
I can’t recommend the book from Walyer Baeyens enough: “De elite van de macht, de macht van de elite” ([link](https://www.standaardboekhandel.be/p/de-elite-van-de-macht-de-macht-van-de-elite-9789461314307) to Standaard Boekhandel). Especially in the first half, he wrote a chronology of all the shit that happened and was decided above our heads during the past 100 years.
Am I the only one who is disturbed because we need foreign press to find out about this?
It was at the height of the cold war, people got whacked. Especially if you annoyed too many powerful people.
Didn’t we kill all heads of state in that region in that period in time?
