Hi all, ignorant American here (sorry I cannot speak Icelandic). I need some help IDing this jersey / possibly providing context and history from your men’s national ice hockey team. I recently received this jersey as a gift, which was super random considering the person it came from is not an Icelander nor have they ever visited the country. He knows I like to collect hockey jerseys and went with this one which I found to be an odd choice.
He told me that this player is the “Wayne Gretzky” of Iceland hockey, but interestingly enough, a quick google search yielded almost no results. All I could find as a possible match was Emil Alengaard, a player who has tallied 73 points in international contests (the most of any player in Iceland). Anyone that can verify this or give me more info about your team / this player? The jersey isn’t the best quality, but the crest is kind of cool and it would be an interesting conversation starter if nothing else.
Þakka þér fyrir! vertu blessaður!

This is correct. It is an Icelandic/swedish former player turned coach Emil Alengård. Hockey isn’t huge in Iceland and he has reached the furthest of any Icelandic player. He played in sweden for a numer of years, and even played in HockeyEttan (3 league after SHL and allsvenska). No other icelandic player has played in such a league.
You can find details about him on elite prospects: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/3970/emil-alengard
