Anyone want a bet? Will he uturn with 24 or 48 hours?
That’s just what the South West and Wales wanted to hear, I’m sure
Good to see… I feel like this is one of the things that Labour can be strong on
National Wealth Fund, ffs.
“You need a Government that gets involved, that rolls up its sleeves, that offers the hand of partnership in pursuit of the national interest, with clear fiscal rules – sound and followed rigorously.”
Great start to the sentence but ruined by the ending.
Politicians plan a lot but never actually do anything
I’m over in Ireland so could easily be missing something, but I’ve been hearing about this for at least 15 years from all British parties and yet (again, from the outside looking in) it just seems to get worse and worse.
What is the issue? Is it lies from politicians, locals rejecting opportunities like the US “rust belt” crowd who refuse to adapt with the times, or something else?
unless he puts this in writting, on a paper, so it is legally binding, then its just a load of hot air.
This is highly likely to be a pledge that he won’t U turn simply because it’s a red wall thing, and Labour needs those votes to win.
Excellent stuff.
We’ll get a few bricks and a marquee to promote something that will end up having the funding pulled
good plan now all he has to do is stop supporting genocide and uphold the rule of law
I hate to be pessimistic but, as a SandDancer, I will believe it when I see it. The North-East always gets shafted because Westminister thinks the North ends at Leeds and Manchester.
Pretty hard to renew the North East.
Relatively barren, lack of new housing, shite transport links, massive brain drain.
Good luck to them, but the NE will always be 3rd/4th in terms of where inward investment should go
Let’s see if he actually carries out any of his promises…..
What jobs and what industry? Renewables maybe some, but why would services or financial centres open miles away from clients? Makes no sense.
I hate this hot air talk. Solutions not guff.
Can you please start with public transport. Jobs are pointless if people can’t get to them. It’s so bad in the North if you don’t drive.
“NORTHERN POWERHOUSE, LEVEL UP, MORE MAYORS,ECT ECT”.
What happened to not committing to uncosted plans and such?
All it will take is one northen mayor to express discontent at labour’s stance on the inhalation of a people and they’ll u turn so hard the front bench will get whiplash, again.
Well I’ll take that promise it over the 13 years of “not levelling up” we have had. And if we don’t get anything I’ll pass judgement at the ballet box.
Ahh, Starmer the guy who took his poppy off when doing an Islamophobia video, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMbG5_5e9yI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMbG5_5e9yI) VILE!!, VILE MAN! he’s anti British , he U-Turns on everything and is the biggest threat to this country.
Promises promises. Soon as he gets in he will do nothing about it except make up some half hearted slogan like “levelling up” and bung us all about 10 million each. Pocket change.
Look provided no one wants any extra taxes or spending then yes we can absolutely do this
Who’s betting we literally never hear about this again? We really need a centralised database of all the promises MPs/party leaders make, and they should be formally named and shamed when they inevitably abandon/U-turn on/contradict them.
But it’s lies this time the same as every other time.
Former industrial towns of the midlands and north have been shafted by all parties for decades……export the jobs and allow imports of subsidised products that lasts just as long as it takes to kill the local industry.
It’ll be yet more false promises that there is zero intention to deliver.
Its almost like there’s an election on the horizon. Pre election promises ain’t worth a w**k
