Germany appoints first-ever commissioner for LGBTQ issues

  1. What’s interesting to me is that this position is under the Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, rather than, for example, being part of the Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs, or being directly under the chancellery. Might just be political powergaming, or it might mean an important step in the recognition of LGBTQ+ persons as a normal part of society rather than an issue to be solved. (Societal adaptation has been lagging behind the legal realm at times on this.)

  2. Can’t wait for this era to come to an end, either because we start focusing on pressing matters or because we get put in our place by global powers with their eyes on the prize. Waste of time and money.
