  1. Thought this should happen for a while. While working for the NHS, freeze interest on the loan so it doesn’t grow, and knock off £2k a year or something for every year worked in the NHS. Means those working for the NHS get their training for free, but stops people just training up then running off abroad or to private sector by encouraging long term service in the NHS

  2. I remember when you didn’t have to pay. Maybe if they brought that back it’d encourage new entrants..

  3. Won’t stop them immigrating abroad where they will get better pay for the same job.

  4. I know of a legal loop hole to get out of paying a student loan. This actually used to be written on the student loans website years ago but they have now seemed to have taken it down. Depending on which plan you’re you will have a threshold on the amount you earn before you start paying it back. Its something like £1600 a month for me because im on the old plan. Well I read the terms and condition of it and it said that if I have more then one job then they will only charge me if I get more than the threshold for one of those jobs, not both. I then realised I could get 2 part time jobs tell HMRC exactly how many hours I work so I wont be put on emergency tax for either of those jobs and never work any over time. I have not paid student loans since 2012. Nhs staff can simply ask for a smaller contract and work through an agency part time and even earn a higher rate. Im shocked more people dont know about this, the only guy I met who knew was a rich boss who came from old money. He told me hes never paid it back either. This is known as tax avoidance which is legal unlike tax evasion. He told me other tricks as well, he fills in a tax refund form every years and claims on travelling costs and money to clean work uniform, he doesnt even wear a uniform. I did that once but it was a bit of a long form and I got something like 30 quid back.

He also told me there used to be a rule that before 18 years of age you were not supposed to be paying national insurance, the tax man used to just charge it anyway and wouldnt say anything if nobody noticed. Well apparently people did begin to notice and then National insurance office closed their phone line and said ok you have to send a letter, which I doubt they would even reply to, then after that they changed their minds again and said ok you only have 5 years to reclaim it. After that they finally changed the rules and made it mandatory for 16 year olds to pay NI.
