Stopped by for some pastizzi and Kinnie during a recent trip to Malta. I really liked the place and got the impression it was pretty well known, so looked for some sources to write a Wikipedia article.

I’m not Maltese, though, and could use some help.

1) I see Tas-Serkin, Is-Serkin, and just Serkin. This seems like it’s probably a basic linguistic syntax thing (context-dependent), but googling was trickier than I would’ve thought.

2) What’s the real distinction between a “bar” and other types of food/drink establishment? I got the impression in Italy that it can mean a cafe (mainly coffee) or a bar in the sense that I know it (mainly alcohol) — similar in Malta?

3) A general request for sources, especially those in Maltese or which rely on terms I might not be googling. Wikipedia can only include a summary of what’s been published, and although it seems quite famous in Malta, I’m having trouble finding good sources talking about its history or providing a thorough review of the food, for example. Like I can’t even find a citation for the full name of the person who started it. I pieced together Ninu Azzopardi from learning that Martin Azzopardi inherited it from his father, and in another source learned his father’s name was Ninu.

4) What do I have wrong?
