The jump in the number of rental properties in Inner London post Lockdown 1 in 2020 was huge compared to the rest of the U.K.

Inner London is N / NW / W / E / SE / SW / WC / EC postcodes

Thoughts?

  1. What thought?

It is pretty obvious, during Covid many people moved away thinking they can WFH forever, hence the surge in rental availability.

After Covid now companies want people back into the office, at least partially. So moving away is not an option anymore and many forced to move back into London. Which then put rental availability back to pre-Covid level.

  2. I think it is what anyone would have expect to see in the data?

That’s a bit wide, isn’t it? That’s everything up to zone 5 [going by this map](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5a/London_Postal_Region_Map.jpg/1124px-London_Postal_Region_Map.jpg). I would’t call that ‘inner London’.

And what sort of data is this based on? House sales? Flat share listings? Zoopla rentals? Having a bit of context of what we’re looking at would help to know how to interpret it. Like is it just airbnb places suddenly being offered as 1-bed rentals?
