Come the summer of next year they should have found ways on countering mines, drones and SAMs. If they succeed than the war continues, the south is freed and Donbas and Crimea will be the targeted.
If they get bogged down again, I could see peace negotiations happen. Biden is expected to win because of RFK and the fact people still hate Trump, or the next Republican isn’t popular enough.
Either way Ukraine should be a NATO member, a gas industry to rebuild the economy and it’ll have a lot more weapons to use.

Hmm, I’m not sure what to think of this;
On one hand it sucks beyond everything that Ukraine may need to give up land for peace, and that the Russian invaders end up coming out as the ‘winner’ but if Ukraine can get solid security gurantees (I.E Nato forces based inside Ukraine itself, patrolling it’s borders alongside Ukraine forces) then that’s as solid as NATO membership they’re going to get.
But on the flip side, can Ukraine feasibly expel the Russian invaders, and propose a set-out plan for how they expect to do this? Can they retake the captured lands, including Donbas & Crimea, considering their main offensive this year has advanced only 17KM in the South? Will they be reliant on military aid for this, or can they work on what they have already for example? It does genuinely raise many questions, regardless of somebodies thoughts.
Either way, this basically tells the world that having nukes, you can do whatever you want and bully your neighbours, invade them and kill them indescriminately and get away with it. The West’s soft actions during this has enforced this mindset. Threaten anyone who interferes that you will nuke them, then it’s basically a free pass to do anything. It also sadly writes off Georgia too, as they’re next on Russia’s list.
I hope Ukraine, IF PUSHED to negotiate, will require EU accession and NATO admission immediately, without any process or delay. If Russian lovers like Hungary and Slovakia can be part of the EU, why not Ukraine? Ukraine have done enough to warrant admission into NATO already.
Ideally, the west will see the shit they’re brewing by negotiating and making concessions. It’s just encouragement for the same shit to repeat again in 3-5 years, just like we’re seeing following illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia.
An additional problem is Putin running out of time. He has maybe another decade to his life, which is enough to convince other countries to join him in his pursuit. This is what western democracies should be most concerned about. China is watching. India is watching. North Korea is watching. Middle East is already doing more than watching.
I’d rather west pulled their fingers out and supplied everything that’s needed to Ukraine. For once the uk government is spending my taxes in a good way and I hope they continue to do so, by supporting Ukraine.
