As a person from the town I find it quite frustrating. Our town park is closed for an entire six weeks (shorter this year thanks to a compromise). People don’t have anywhere else to go walking or running around the town as there aren’t many walks that are safe for the dark nights during the winter. I also am frustrated that the coursing group, is mainly comprised of farmers, most of whom aren’t from the town themselves, refuse to use any of their own land. My final point of view, is I disagree with the breeding and the regulation of the dogs. I think coursing would be a fine sport if there was better regulations to protect the dogs
Does anyone have a good reason why hare coursing should be permitted?

If a barbaric practice involving setting vicious dogs on harmless animals with the intention of terrifying them at best and tearing them apart at worst is your town’s “lifeline”, then maybe fuck your backwards town of troglodytes and let it die. I mean, if that’s the best you have like…

Should be done away with. I always say imagine if an advanced alien species enslave us and then made us do stuff like this to be hunted for their own leisure. Hunting animals or killing animals for pleasure’s sake should be banned.

Talk to your TD. Get in their ear about this, and other concerns you have. It’s all well and good giving yards on here, and that helps to raise awareness, but you need to follow up by taking it to the people that matter.
Edit: to put my money where my mouth is, I’ve just emailed Eamon Ryan to get the Green position on this. He might not be effective but he’s still one of my TDs and he’s sitting at the cabinet table.
