It’s been posted already about service charges but this is really next level after paying an additional £17 each to get entry where it has been deliberately organised to milk as much profit from an otherwise fantastic fireworks display.
The service charge if ordering through the table QR code was a mandatory 12.5% on top of an already £30 pitcher of beer which was deliberately only available through the web app.
You can of course go to the bar and order the equivalent 4 beers yourself but they were supplied in tall flimsy paper cups so impossible to bunch together and carry back to the table.
This greed grabbing by the event organisers needs to be called out more. I’ve no problems in tipping great staff but now it just feels like people are paying the staff.
It was a great night with the fireworks and I will give credit for how well it was organised but the “Octoberfest” could’ve been great if the greed train wasn’t running full speed.
