A curious question: Did you read the remainder of the article or just posted it because of the headline?
Because while hostage situation might be technical correct, someone just reading the headline probably not expect it to be “only” an escalated custody conflict with the (only) hostage being the kid of the subject (which is still not great for anyone involved, but once more not the picture the headline draws).
