  1. What an evil fucking thing to do. This isn’t pro-life. It’s pro-cruelty. Fuck them in eleventy bazillion different ways.

  2. Poor guy. It’s a shame the world he lived in made him feel the need to do this.

  3. The sad reality is the people that mocked him are probably really happy about it. Some of the people in the south can be the most hateful people you’ve ever seen.

  4. Why outing anyone is a moral wrong, you do not walk in their shoes.

    By all accounts he / she kept their life balanced in each walks taken.

    He / She leaves behind 3 children and a supportive wife.

    Just a tragedy all around.

    This is also why outing bills targeting minor students are equally dangerous, disgusting and evil.

  7. Just hope Copeland gets the peace they clearly lacked in life. The story here isn’t the person that killed themself; it’s the assholes that saw an identity crisis as an attack vector and drove that person to suicide.

    Since this is r/politics, its worth pointing out that this is what LGBQT rights is all about. Removing stigma, and lowering suicide rates.

    I used to joke about transpeople. My wife did too. Not in public, but still, we made jokes.

    ​

    We stopped those jokes when a trans classmate of my son committed suicide. I’m ashamed of the jokes we used to make. These people are humans, they are each one a miracle, and they deserve dignity and respect.

    I won’t consider voting Republican for about 10 different reasons. LGBQT rights is one.

  24. Being familiar with this blog I am absolutely certain they are happy now. This isn’t an anomaly for them, they out LGBT people against their will CONSTANTLY. In Alabama. This is the exact result they hope for when they do it, either the target kills themselves or some rabid hateful hick does it for them.

    Remember when Rush Limbaugh used to read the names of people who died from AIDS so he and his audience could laugh and celebrate, because they thought the dead were probably gay and so their deaths were a cause for celebration? That’s the same basic spirit of 1819.

    The guy who wrote the article that led directly to this suicide was being sarcastic and jokey about this on Twitter. He’s not sorry, this was the goal. This is always the goal.

  25. Yes, they are happy. This is what they want. Anyone who deviates from their idea of the “norm” permanently removing themselves from the world is the goal.

  26. Let me preface this by saying this is horrible and it should not have happened however I think it should also be noted there is a difference between being trans and crossdressing. Now either way it is that persons business and no one else’s however enjoying wearing the other genders clothes and identifying as another gender are very different things. Now again this is horrible and the stigma should be removed but to refer to every cross dresser as trans seems to belittle what it is to be transgendered for those that genuinely feel they were born the wrong gender.
