Russian forces struct a frontline village in Zaporizhzhia Oblast during a Ukrainian award ceremony yesterday. At least 20 people were killed and many wounded, majority of them seems to be soldiers from Ukrainian 128th Mountain-Assault Brigade.

    >The officer responsible for this must be held accountable for gathering that much people near the frontline

    >Inside job. Find the traitor.

    >Cheap shot.

  2. In Iraq and Afghanistan we were not allowed to have mass formations for this reason. This is also why where we ate meals was a hardened position.

  3. Having a medal ceremony on the front lines is idiotic. RIP.

  4. Oh man who needs awards in an active battlezone. Get them home and award them there

  5. Holding a ceremony like this is something I would expect to hear Russia doing not Ukraine. FFS.

  6. This sub was clowning Russians for doing the same thing, when one of their parade formations was struck near the Frontline by artillery.

  7. We need more news like this, and I think we will.

I’ve been saying for a while that Ukraine needs to pivot their messaging strategy, and I think this past week the pivot began.

I think by being more honest about bad news they can re-engage audiences in the news about Ukraine, and hopefully play that into further public support for their cause.

It was reasonable to try to hide any failures early in the war, but that ship has sailed now. Nobody believes the rosy picture anymore anyway.

  8. No problems having award ceremonies and all that but they shouldn’t be so close to the front line. I mean they’ve had tons of them throughout the war already with little issue. The commanding officer or who ever was in charge needs to have a talking to if they lived.

  9. Guess one of the “waiters” in the Frontline villages tipped the ruZZians off…

  10. If this is true, this is absolutely idiotic, and I hope the responsible officer died in the blast, so at least he wouldn’t endanger more lives… who in their right mind does this?? This should be russian-exclusive behavior, no other disciplined army in the world would allow this. I hope our wounded heros can recover soon, and that the russians and the commander responsible for this rot in hell.

  11. Some tratorious bastard gave them away I would guess. Why are they doing this openly in wartime? Award ceremony in the middle of war? It’s asking to be hit ffs. This is a sad loss and one that should never have happened in the first place. I support Ukraine to the fullest but that was a dumb idea. Rest in peace to the lost 🇺🇦

  12. Mass gatherings like this one are forbidden for a long time. Someone’s decision just reinforced that rule.

  13. Uhh why were they doing a ceremony on the front? Thats what the Russians do.

  14. So dumb!! Ukraine hits them when Russians get together and then gathers for a meeting 🤦🏻
