Is this really a common occurance or is it being exaggerated? I spent far too little time in Valletta, love visiting the city and will continue to do so every change I get.
The only trouble I ever experienced when was when my ex thought that the glass of water I was given with my espresso was a shot of sambuca at 10am.
I used to work in a couple of restaurants in Valletta over 15 years ago and this was always an issue, kids being let loose to roam the city, waiting for tourists to leave the table and grab their tips or just plain being assholes and making fun of them. Soon as MC Donald’s opened it became a Mecca for rowdy kids who used to congregate in groups of thirty or forty ,same as they do at the one in bkara. This is nothing a basic police presence can’t solve.
There has been a drug fight between the African groups and others.
These occurrences have been around for decades in Malta and pretty much everywhere else. It’s the way some teenagers are unfortunately but when you add social media to the mix it gets blown way out of proportion.
On top of that, articles like these where kids are described as gangs tend to create a moral panic at the expense of the real situation.
Sure Valletta has its ugly side but it’s generally as safe as any other locality in Malta
Until you get hold of one of them and pluck his eyes out. If im in valletta with my kids and they jyst try i will tase them.
What about the gangs in bugibba or qawra?? I’m more scared of them than a couple of skinny teens xD
I used to be one of those rowdy kids when I was younger. It’s a right of passage. Kids are rowdy everywhere.
