  1. Could they not have taken it down without the mess all over the tracks?

    I’m no signal box demolition expert though mind.

I don’t think it’ll really capture public imagination until the planning goes in for the new train stations, but I think we’re doing a lot right, if a bit quietly, with rail generally in this country, but especially in Cork. We’re taking existing, underutilised rail, and turning it into a quality commuter rail system. Practically rapid transit in parts. We’re also seeing appropriate feed in systems being developed, like the improved cycling and walking infrastructure in east Cork, especially Middleton, and the stuff in Little Island (would be good to see the bus lanes come sooner though, I suspect being delayed by the Dunkettle works?)

    I hope it works, and that it becomes a model for other places here, like Limerick. And perhaps even less likely places (Drogheda/East Meath? Kerry?)

  3. Bring on the people complaining about loss of heritage and old buildings, while at the same time complaining about lack of investment in public infrastructure….
