How can a French like me watch this and not be reminded of the Résistance?
In the history of the war in Ukraine, we still have no idea how the partisans are doing. But when victory is achieved and freedom returns, we will discover a vast continent of humble deeds they accomplished in secret. Hiding children, blowing up railways, killing occupiers, sending messages, all at the risk of their very lives.
There will be tales of torture, of death and vengeance. There will be stories of traitors. But the names that will emerge will be the ones the country will be grateful for, forever. They will be Ukraine’s heroes for generations to come.
May the Ukrainian resistance hold strong. Past victory is eternity’s grace.
I think the heroic resistance of Ukraine has awoken something in many Ukrainians on Crimea and Luhansk/Donetsk. The years before since 2015 they probably resignated, felt abandoned and dealt with the new reality. But what Ukraine showed since February 2022…the heroic resistance gave them hope and pride. Slava Ukraini!!!
