The circulating posts on Arteta is taken out of context when the question he was responding to was “do you think referees should be banned from matches when they make mistakes?” How did this get bastardised into something it’s not?

Liverpool fans took a snippet of a whole ass interview and decided that was Arteta’s stance when, of course, there is far more nuance to the conversation than that.
I don’t even want or expect opposition fans to back Arsenal on this because from the Liverpool incident it was obvious that no matter how egregious of a mistake made against someone, people just won’t care if it doesn’t happen to them.
Both games featured refs who have been paid a wedge to referee in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In the case of the arsenal game, one of the VAR refs was paid by Al Nassr, who are ultimately owned by the same family as Newcastle, to ref a game this year and according to some reports they get £20k per game. That doesn’t definitively prove corruption, but it’s what corruption would look like. Referees shouldn’t be able to take lucrative side gigs with organisations very closely related to the ones the officiate for reasons so obvious that I view with suspicion people who don’t understand them.
😂 the fucking copium.
