  1. Thereby answering the question whose is biggest, and accomplishing nothing else.

  2. Yeah, boy, that’ll really improve the situation. They can deliver all kinds of food and medical supplies, and evacuate hundreds of wounded civilians.

    Wait, what?

    Oh.

  3. You just have to catch the Tomahawk. It’s full of supplies.

  4. This is an announcement? Does everyone not realize: nuclear subs also escort aircraft carriers as part of the battle group ? I’m aware of two carriers in the Middle East I would assume they came with at least a submarine each but I like to imagine more than one is assigned to defend the carrier

  5. This s&$t is getting real real….oh boy…everyone got their seatbelts tightly fastened?

  6. Note: **All** U.S. submarines are nuclear-powered. That does **not** mean they all carry nuclear weapons.

    * ~~50~~ 46 fast attack submarines
    * 14 Ballistic missile submarines
    * 4 guided missile submarines

    The sub in question is one of the attack boats (or more specifically, an ex-ballistic missile boat, converted to launch non-nuclear Tomahawk cruise missiles).

  7. “An Ohio-class SSGN is armed with 22 missile tubes, each with 7 Tomahawk cruise missiles, totaling 154”. Well, that’s a lot of boom sticks

  8. Sabre rattling. Announcing a hidden asset makes zero military sense.
    Edit: Makes sense in a deterrent to other nations/groups sense.

  9. the thing about submarines is, if you’re seeing one submarine, theres a lot of submarines you *aren’t* seeing.

  10. They have ship launch platforms and I imagine the carrier escort subs can launch tomahawks. Why bring in an Ohio SSGN.

  11. So this is most likely an SSGN. the US has 2 versions of the ohio class nuclear powered subs, one for nukes and one for conventional land attack.

  12. If this is what military propaganda looks like, then it works! Take my goddamn money.

    As a wise person said, if you want peace prepare for war.

  13. Wish America would take this aggressive stance in the black sea

  14. Oh dam. Middle east must be buggin out now hearing this., Shits about to get real

  15. It was probably already there. The announcement was just a flex.

  16. Did I hear someone talking shit? Iran, you said something?

  17. The thing is, if the US is announcing the presence of a sub, they really don’t want to use it and just want everyone to calm down.

  18. I’m sure it’s been there for a while they don’t leave their carriers

  19. The fact that is knowledge for the whole world makes me think the sub is somewhere else. Subs aren’t typically used as a projection of power line the aircraft carriers are.

  20. I have doubts about the wisdom of the U.S. publicly waving its nukes around in the middle east right now.

    Presumably this is to deter Iran from getting any ideas, but I think it only serves to encourage them to step up their nuclear weapons program. Israel, Pakistan, Indian, Russia, China, and the U.S. all have nukes. Iran only shares a border with Pakistan, but from their point of view I could see how they would feel like everyone around them has assault rifles and all they have is a slingshot.

  21. In case anyone hasn’t figured this out, subs are nearby weeks before anything is announced. We’re getting their old news

  22. Subs been in that area the moment carriers showed up, this announcement is mostly likely for Iran.
