Not TFL’s fault. In the Terms & Conditions for the Railcard you bought it will state that a minimum fare of £12 applies before 10am. This is because a Railcard is designed to give discounts on leisure journeys, not commuting.
‘… if you travel between 04:30 and 09:59 Monday to Friday (except during July and August) a minimum fare of £12 will apply.’
