  1. The counter argument to this is that making it hard to become a citizen has prevented immigrants from feeling they are part of the society and thus has become a barrier to integration.

    I was talking to a friend whose parents are from Turkey. She told me that her father, an apolitical man, took her and her siblings to a concentration camp when they were young in order to learn about the crimes of the Nazis and that it is upon everyone to make sure they don’t happen again. That story quite moved me. (And the friend of course has German citizenship now.)

  3. “Angesichts der jüngsten antisemitischen Demonstrationen in Deutschland”: ah right, all of us foreigners went to these protests. My gosh what kind of scapegoating is this, we should actually protest for better treatment at the Auslandbehörde to show them what demonstrations from foreigners could look like and how many we are.
