  1. “If there’s any chance of us being able to act constructively to do something, it will require an admission of complexity and maintaining what on the surface may seem contradictory ideas that what Hamas did was horrific, and there’s no justification for it. And … that the occupation and what’s happening to Palestinians is unbearable,” Obama said in an interview on the podcast “Pod Save America.”

We need to keep ourselves in the shoes of the average Palestinian/Israel and think about this conflict.

  2. Dealing with nuance and complexity requires leadership. Absent leadership, it’s just too easy to yell “antisemitism!!” or “genocide!!” Biden is dropping the ball on this one. Personally, I fear he’s too old and too tired to lead on an issue of nuance and complexity and, thus, must call on Obama to cover for him.

  3. One side wants to live in peace, and the other side thinks the first side has no right to exist and wants them all dead.

    Where is the nuance?

  4. The constant need to paint one side as “good” and the other side as “evil” is part of the reason why the cycle of violence has been allowed to continue for so long. One side is “good”, therefore everything they do is framed in that way. While the other side is “evil”, so any action taken against them is justified.

  5. Obama needs to stop being the adult in the room. he’s getting in the way of my team sports!!

  6. Perhaps we should start with the Israelis and Palestinians?

  7. It’s not reconcilable.

One side won’t stop until the other is dead.

They’re pretty clear about that, in fact.

  8. There is way too much extreme rhetoric and it’s only getting worse as people dig in to their opinions. Also I see a lot more blame on Israel and people seem to desperately avoid any Palestinian blame

  9. While the sentiment might be right the area and the conflict is complex. This specific issue, that is the continued existence of Hamas, is not. Hamas needs to be destroyed, following that there must be acknowledgement and moving forward. That being said coming from Obama the guy that killed his own citizens without a trial it reeks of half-truths in an attempt to take a side without saying it out loud.

  10. Very complex, one side has offered multiple peaceful solutions over the decades, the other calls for the extinction of the other side.

    What to do 🤔.

  11. As an atheist it’s hard not to recognize how abrahamic religions play such a divisive role in our world.

  12. Obama was terrible at foreign policy while president. Remember his ”red line” statement about Syria.

  13. Or don’t move forward at all, which is basically what most, particularly the polarized factions, are at.

  14. Wise words, you can’t paint it as good vs evil if you understand the nuance, there’s too much detail involved.

  15. Whats the complexity? We shell out billions to Israel for them to commit war crimes with no accountability

  16. Obama is the most Palestinian sympathizing president of that past 30+ years. He is demigod among us, will they cancel him? Place your bets…

  17. The history of the Israel-Palestine conflict is wholly separate from the issue of civilians being bombed at will. There’s no complexity, just inhumanity.

  18. I’m sorry but colonialism and apartheid. Someone said those words to me, and now I understand the entire conflict without doing any further research. THANKS Obama.

  19. WE DON’T LIKE YOUR KIND ‘ROUND HERE, GIVING US ALL THIS “NUANCE” STUFF. MY PAPPY RAISED ME TO BE AN EXTREMIST WHACKO, AND NOW YOU’RE INSULTING MY FATHER WHO DIED OF LUNG CANCER. GET EM SKEETER

  20. Wasn’t the purpose of Israel to create a place for Jews to live and have self governance because being second class citizens in every country they go to wasn’t working out? But the issue with this proposed state was an attack by islamists from every corner of the Middle East? Setting up a state that is hostile to everyone around was just such a poor idea especially if one wants to avoid the tragedies of today. Yes Israel is taking land from the West Bank and Gaza Strip because there is no true governmental body in those areas, and that culminated, along with Bibis support, in the attack on Oct 7th. Where is the end to this conflict?

  21. This issue is more complicated than Israel vs Hamas. Neither side is doing anything remotely worth supporting at the moment.

  22. This is the same Obama whose terrible foreign policy led to widespread use of chemical weapons against civilians in Syria, the invasion of Crimea and east Ukraine by Russia, the rise of ISIS from the remnants of the Iraqi Republican Guard, genocide in Myanmar and Sudan, and a complete collapse of the Israel-Palestinian peace process? That Obama, right?

  23. Too many people have opinions on things they know nothing about, and the more ignorant they are the more opinions they have.

  24. Is this the same black president who bombed an African country when he was in office? Because we had to fight the war on terror? No thanks!

  25. Cool Obama then tell your buddy to stop supporting one side then
