The former president, wearing a dark suit and light blue shirt and tie, walked slowly with his gaze towards the floor behind his attorneys as he arrived inside a third-floor courtroom in lower Manhattan on Monday.
>I cannot underscore how much this case visibly irks Trump. He is now attacking Wallace: “Everybody got their money in full, and now you’re assuming the statements are phony!”
At this point they’re not assuming, it has been decided that the statements are phony.
He’s just going to sit there trying to perform for his base, who will be eating up every minute of his defiance here. I wonder if he’ll actually answer a single question.
Does anyone still doubt why the other trials should not be televised?
> Judge Engoron: “Mr. Kise, can you control your client? This is not a political rally… Maybe you should have a talk with him right now.” Kise disagrees and says it would be far more economical to let the “former and future chief executive of the United States” to give his answers.
It is absolutely amazing how much leeway this dude continues to get
There is 0% chance he does not fuck this up. He just can’t help himself.
Judge Engoron again criticizes Trumps answers ….
“In addition to the answers being non-responsive, they are repetitive.”
Judge to Kise: “I beseech you to control him if you can. If you can’t, I will. I will excuse him and draw every negative inference that I can.”
He’s about to get himself thrown out of the courtroom.
“Perfect testimony, bailiff apologized, won the case, people were crying”.
Trump is a danger to everyone…
cnn anchor slobbering over trumps knob for some reason…
This is an even bigger shit show than I expected.
Live coverage:
Trump has been admonished by the judge several times in less than an hour.
Kise argues that it’s “more efficient” to have him explain himself on the stand.
“This is a situation where you have on the stand a candidate for president of the United States … and so the most efficient way I would ask the court is to listen to what he has to say and you weigh it,” he adds. “The court needs to hear what he has to say about these statements and why they’re reliable.”
He says he’s “happy to talk to him about making the answers more contained”.
Judge Engoron fires back, booming into the mic: “These people are not here to hear what he has to say. He is here to answer questions. … Sit down already.”
Trump, on the witness stand after a beat: “This is a very unfair trial. And I hope the public is watching.”
This is getting nasty.
After Habba told the judge he is here to listen to what Trump has to say, judge told her to sit down. “I am not here to listen to what he has to say!” judge shouted.
Trump: “This is a very unfair trial — very very — and I hope the public is watching.”
“Did you approve it, Wallace asks. Trump: “Yes, I accepted it. Other people did it.” Is it based on fair and accurate information? Trump: “I assume so.”
He ordered the code red… So he approved the fraud.
I’m starting an office pool for how many crimes he admits to on the stand. Bonus points if he says he was on a grassy knoll in 1963.
This is going to be a massive shit show and I’m here for it 🥲
He’s gonna dig his own grave and it’s awesome lol
Is @CNN working for the Trump campaign? He is completely unhinged. They are making it seem as though ranting on the witness stand is a legitimate strategy. This is the kind of coverage that is leading young voters to believe that he is a super smart, tough guy rather than an old man with a diaper who is ranting because he has a narcissistic persecution complex.
And the judge has started yelling.
The forgot to mention the swelling of his diaper as his testimony went further along.
“Donald Trump? Never heard of him. Oh wait, I may have seen the guy in my bathroom mirror once or twice.”
My favorite part so far just happened
>Trump was just asked his involvement in the 2021 financial statement. He tried to answer saying that he was busy with the presidency, focused on “China, Russia and keeping our country safe.”
>Wallace, the state lawyer, reminded him that he was not president in 2021
Oh man you know that kills him
But no media outlet questions his mental fitness
Questioning resumes with the 2014 evaluation of Trump’s Seven Springs estate. Trump valued it at $291m and says he actually decided to drop that value.
“I thought it was high,” Trump says. “And they dropped the value.”
“Is the Seven Springs [conservation] easement donation under review by the IRS?” Wallace asks.
“Not that I know of,” Trump says.
“Again, I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at these statements because their value [is so low],” Trump says.
The only way his lawyers are going to be able to “control” him is a shock collar.
Better wipe that chair down after. There will be depend leakage for sure.
>Trump said that the difference in cost could also be explained by the roof access, and then “it’s not that far off.” He also said they could have made a mistake and there’s a disclaimer clause for that reason.
“There’s a disclaimer clause where you don’t have to get sued by the attorney general of New York,” Trump said.
Tongue-in-cheek retort aside, the judge has already said the disclaimer clauses aren’t valid. So keep digging yourself, Trump.
‘Did you order the code orange?!’
So Trump just said “I am not a windmill person”. If he theoretically was to go into one of his crazy anti-windmill tirades, explaining that they cause cancer and whatever other horrors, wouldn’t he technically be “lying on the stand”.
Sometimes it sounds like Trump’s strategy is to disrespect and ridicule the judges and then when he’s reprimanded he calls them a trump hating judge. He literally pokes the bear and then cries when the bear eats him.
As per the NY Times live updates…Trump is now losing it. Talking about whatever he wants and not answering questions, just attacking the judge.
live coverage updates:
Trump isn’t looking at the judge when he says this, but he’s gesturing with his hands.
“You ruled against me and you said I was a fraud,” he says, raising his voice and getting redder in the face.
“He called me a fraud, and he didn’t know anything about me.”
“*He’s* the one who didn’t value the property correctly,” Trump says, fuming. “How do you call a man a fraud who has a property that’s 50 to 100 times more … It’s a terrible thing you’ve done.”
Trump is treated with the softest gloves in the US legal system to counter later claims from him of being treated unfairly.
Ironically, if anyone else got this treatment the judge would correctly be blamed for being biased in favor of the accused.
A lawyer friend of mine once saw a judge jail someone for refusing to stop aggressively rustle a newspaper in the courtroom. It’s insane that Trump is allowed to go on tirades and abuse the judge to his face.

[Donald Trump](https://www.the-independent.com/topic/donald-trump) is on the witness stand in a trial that could collapse his family’s business and brand-building real-estate empire.

This topic really needs a megathread, if only for housekeeping’s sake. Gonna be dozens of posts about every detail of the day.
Is there a court feed somewhere? Someone doing it on twitter?
Best wishes to the prosecutors.

>”We’ll explain that as this trial goes along. This crazy trial goes along. Because we’re bringing in the bankers. Very big bankers,” Trump says.
it’s never not weird to hear an almost 80 year old man talk like a 8 year old.
He’s already bloviating at this point.
Judge has already told him to move things along.
Sounds like he’s still prattling on and not answering the questions.
Shocker.
Interesting that he’s wearing a blue tie and shirt today instead of his usual red tie. Trying out a little subconscious manipulation maybe?
