Of course they don’t care about blowback. They care about the 1600 citizens viciously butchered, kidnapped and raped overnight by invading Gazans on Oct 7th.
Why would they ever stop before every person responsible for it was dead.
As an Israeli, returning to the 7/10 status quo will not satisfy anyone. A ceasefire without the hostages being returned home will be seen as a failure. The end game is unknown as of now, but we will figure it out before we terminate Hamas.
Why should Israel give up on their leverage against Hamas for nothing in return?
If Hamas wants a ceasefire they should release the hostages they abducted.
What’s the solution? Should Israel fold because of international pressure? Should Israel tell it’s own public that Hamas, the monsters still lives beyond the border, knowing they would enact 7/10 all the same for times to come? That the citizens that were massacared and IDF soldiers that fell gave their lives for nothing? Can the Israeli public live happily with that?
Just for reference, the US had some wingnut in congress from the Americian Christofascist party wearing a IDF uniform on TV and he was on like every channel. He wasn’t jewish and he wasn’t actually in the IDF.
Ask Israel again after Hamas is eradicated.
There cannot be a pause, and no rational country should want one, anyway. A pause gives Hamas time to reorganize and prepare for fighting to start again. A pause sets a precedent that Israel can be pressured to stop by foreign powers. A pause brings everyone who was relocated to South Gaza back north again.
There is no advantage to a pause for Israel, and even with the return of the hostages it is a terrible proposition because you are hitting the brakes and giving back a significant chunk of the progress that was made whether in land or momentum.
Israel is finally on the ground in Gaza. Finally there is a way to document everything that is going on firsthand and begin to have a fight in the battle for public perception. If people don’t want to pay attention to aerial views showing that Hamas is firing out of hospital windows, maybe they will take GoPro footage of innocent civilians being used as human shields more seriously.
This is not a time to stop or have any sort of humanitarian pause. This is a time to keep pushing, carefully, forward until the goals are achieved and Hamas is eradicated.
I have asked before, but can you even “bomb for peace”? Can you kill the radicalism out of someone or are you just creating blowback and more terrorists down the line?
***Where, are, our, people?!***
What fucking pause is anyone expecting when our hostages are still there?
We’re worried, but we don’t have any other options.
Eliminate Hamas as an entity inthe Gaza strip, or face the eventual destruction of our nation.
Do or die and I’d rather not die.
The longer this goes on for the more the world will look down at it whatever that means.
Hey, you know what would facilitate near immediate cease-fire negotiations? Releasing all remaining hostages and/or their remains
I’m not sure I understand what the Americans are suggesting here? Not release the hostages, just stop attacking Hamas and leave Hamas and the hostages in Gaza as they were?
Another fail for the books.
Return the hostages
Security>PR
What does victory look like? I’ve not seen this spelled out anywhere. Destroy Hamas. Ok, and then what? In the war on terror the US was great at invading and rubbish at changing minds. How does Israel plan for this to be different and not the long-stewing mess it’s been since forever?
Democrat US officials (Biden, Clinton, Sanders, Obama) oppose a ceasefire.
I think HAMAS made a calculated decision when they committed the October 7th attack. They new that domestic sentiment would necessitate that Israel react disproportionally, and they knew that Israel would quickly squander they sympathy they received on that day because of their actions thereafter.
Israel is making a lot of the same mistakes the US made after 9-11, which allowed Osama Bin Laden to achieve more with the attack than he ever thought possible.
How much do these US calls for restraint actually have to do with the risk of Biden losing Michigan to Trump in 2024 if the Arabs there decide not to vote?
And why would Israel care?
You can’t have a ceasefire without the return of the hostages and the elimination of Hamas.
Israelis have been cast out for millenniums
They are not gonna let a year of international scolding stop them from forever securing the situation in Gaza & setting the example in history what will come to any nation that attacks it
It’s sad & upsetting & a nasty necessity
Because they know that when it comes to Israel, US will take whatever they throw like a little bitch.
Truth be told it’s worse than 9/11 and comparing it to that diminishes the huge differences in the events.
The US fought the war abroad.
The wars that Israel fights with Gaza are not an ocean and a continent away. It’s at home.
No point in a ceasefire when hamas STILL HAS HOSTAGES and will continue to fire rockets into Israel
What do people expect from a ceasefire?
1.Stop the fight.
2.Wait 1-3 years
3.attack again
4.Cry about Israel bombing the heck out of you.
5.Ask for a ceasefire
The death circle.
Why would they? The US cuts blanks checks to Israel regardless. Stop the money flow and then they’ll start to worry
They’re not worried about blowback from the US because the US has a history of taking any abuse that backing Israel causes them. Heck, we even allowed them to attack one of our navy vessels and covered it up for them.
South Gaza is going to become the only Gaza, isn’t it?
And who can fucking blame them.
