All that money wasted on substantial meals that I’ll never get back
At least we were all in it together.
Did that fucking curve ever flatten?
2 years later they admit it, like it’s some shock, we all understand that a lot of it was pointless, but we also understand that it was a complete unknown and judgement calls were made, some overly cautious.
at least they closed the pubs
That was the Xmas I spent all of it with my in-laws instead of going to my folks on Xmas day like usual.
Worst part of the whole pandemic for me that was.
I honestly can’t even remember that there was a lockdown in December 2021….
I got let go from my old job over that lockdown.
A friend of mine attempted suicide at that time and couldn’t be there for him.
Looking back on covid it’s amazing that it lasted so long. It feels to me like it was 2 months or something not 2.5 years. I can’t remember the lockdowns they all just blur into one.
Yet all of /r/ireland was basically rabidly pro lockdown back then.
I am someone who went way beyond normal level of panic. Like, full-on Yank prepper, “I need enough salt to trade” panic. I gave out about people not wesring masks; the whole charade.
But when we see the information coming now, and it was available before the final lockdown, it effected mostly old people, who had comorbidities.
It’s cruel to ask, but has there ever been another time in human history, let alone Irish history that we sacrificed the young for the old?
If you go to the schools, the kids who went through it missed out on core years there, supposedly the level of speech impairments is through the roof, and we upended the entire economy.
Hopefully, Leo and the gang will be admitting to more errors, and the review spurs them to make institutional and ideally legislative changes that don’t allow this to happen again.
That Virus was rampant here in Dec 2019 . The Chinese created a narrative around it to cover for the lab leak. The whole thing was a waste of money and time. Excess deaths are far higher now and covid is/will be everywhere again this winter.
Err on the side of caution during a global pandemic that has killed 7 million people, so no complaints from a reasonable person’s viewpoint.
Smell of conspiracy theorist off op
Miserable 2 years.
Were the lockdowns even enforced? I remember going into the office fairly regularly in 2021. Don’t think I ever came across a checkpoint.
It wasn’t a lockdown, it was a few restrictions on venues; pointless because they were only partial.
Also worth mentioning that no one knew how virulent omicron was. I was travelling trans continental at the time it broke out and governments were literally sealing borders
Was Leo in charge for that one or was it Martin? Either way no need for him to question a decision that he must surely have played a key role in taking?
Ah the great scamdemic, when certain people made a lot of money,
i remember the og lockdown that was actually serious and then i remember there was a less serious one in the summer and besides that i can’t remember anything
They were all unnecessary and did more harm than good
It was barely a lockdown it was not letting unvaxxed into pubs
Half the family got covid over Christmas 2021 so maybe it was needed after all.

So was that two weeks all for nothing?!
Now I don’t know what to think.

The first one was not needed either.
