>As observed in Scott’s new interview with The New Yorker, the official “Napoleon” trailer was met with criticism by TV historian Dan Snow, who called out some of the inaccuracies in a viral TikTok post. Snow argued that “Napoleon didn’t shoot at the pyramids” (the film’s trailer depicted as much during a peek at Scott’s interpretation of the Battle of Pyramids), and he said that Marie Antoinette “famously had very cropped hair for the execution, and, hey, Napoleon wasn’t there” (the trailer shows Marie Antoinette with long, frizzy locks).
>When asked to respond to such historical fact checkers, Scott was blunt in his response: “Get a life.”
>Whether or not “Napoleon” launches Scott back into the Oscar race remains to be seen. The 85-year-old filmmaker has been nominated at the Oscars three times for best director (“The Martian,” “Thelma & Louise” and “Gladiator”), plus once for best picture as a producer on “The Martian.” He’s never won the gold trophy. Even when “Gladiator” claimed the Oscar for best picture in 2000, it was Steven Soderbergh who won directing honors for “Traffic.”
>“You know, I haven’t gotten an Oscar yet,” Scott told The New Yorker. “And, if I ever get one, I’ll say, ‘About feckin’ time!’”

> To be fair, Scott and his team were thorough in their research to make “Napoleon” as historically accurate as possible.
Really? Because it sounds like they could have been more accurate to me.
Don’t make an historical movie if you can’t handle historians picking it apart.
The “get a life” thing is a bit rich for a guy who’s still obsessed with a dumb character choice he insisted on forty years ago which nobody else involved with seems to agree with or like.
Please make historical movies as accurate as possible without any artistic input, I need my nap time.
How dare they say something negative. He clearly put quotes based on a “true”story. The nerve of some historians!
I still remember when people thought Ceasar was killed by his own son and the son went on to have a gladiatorial fight…. We can’t forget people thought that was historically accurate
This is how I learn Ridley Scott has never won an Oscar????
Sounds like someone struck a nerve.
Not as bad as the inaccuracies in Apocalypto. That movie is is fuck up in terms of historical facts
There had been a plan to possibly make a miniseries based on Kubrick’s research. Once again, Kubrick is undone by the existence of a shittier version.
To be fair Ridley he has a life and has dedicated it to being a most respected historian. Much like how you dedicated yours to filmmaking. I don’t even get why you have to make shit up the dude was fairly fascinating and a magnet for drama.
It’s a movie not a documentary
“Feckin’”? Are people saying this now? Feck and feckin’ have been common curse words here in Ireland for generations. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it pop up said by people from other countries recently. Is this a new thing. It’s so weird to me lol.
