This projection of force reminds me of how Republicans in the United States try to project when they feel personally threatened. I wonder what Russia is compensating for with this particular act, because it seems desperate, even for them.

It might be that the missiles tested by Putin have little range or efficiency, but given that we know how aggressive Russia is, best not to take any chances.

I assume countries tell each other “hey, we’re going to test an ICBM on such and such date, k?” Do the other countries that also have nuclear weapons, or honestly in the case of the USA and Russia, do they have someone watching just incase it isn’t a test? (One missile isn’t a likely first strike option but still).

Launching a missile is one thing. Having it go where you intend another. Russia has proven time and time again they aren’t capable to reliable aim missiles, I mean with tactical warheads the room for error is measured in post codes but they’ve proven they can’t even reliably do that. Having the nuclear warhead detonate correctly is a whole other can of worms.
I can’t wait till a country flexes by intercepting a test missile
