>we would like to emphasize that we are not complaining
Sounds like complaining to me.
That’s funny, I had the impression that the job market in Russia was actually doing great.
With so many people dead, at war, or who have fled abroad there’s going to be many unfilled positions.
Oh for fuck’s sake what did you all expect? Just look at the lives of all those other spies who fled to the protection of the Soviet Union when their covers were blown. They were always discarded the moment they were no longer of any use. Did you really think it would be any different for you?
Look you idiots. You were *spies*. Your value was as *spies*. How do you spy anymore when you’ve been kicked home?
Sure they promise you all this crap about how great it will be and how secure your future is and so on. They promised Kim Philby the same things. They convinced that dumb motherfucker he had been secretly made a high-ranking member of the KGB — until he actually fled to Russia and then learned that it had all been a huge, stinking pile of horseshit! He had no rank, no status, no job, no use to them whatsoever anymore. Because he was a fucking idiot and failed to understand that his only value had ever been his position as effective head of MI6. Not any actual ability he might have possessed.
No more position of trust and authority? No more use for the asset.
That logic has never changed. The GRU or SVR or whoever may pride themselves on making sure to extract their agents, but they still aren’t going to have any more use for you today than their predecessors ever did.
I read somewhere that Russia offers great opportunities for unemployed people.
There’s always work at the combat front.
Meat cube always has room for more! Family may get a potato
What you mean no ones hiring.
There are always trenches on the front lines that need spying on…
