  1. I hate how cute it is because all the Nazi flags mean I can never print it or display it anywhere.

  2. I love how former territories are marked on this map (except North Schleswig). Even on a touristic map they couldn’t hide their jingoism.

  3. They used to cut horses’ tails (near Braunschweig & Osnabrück)? That looks pretty awful.

Also, it has these dreadnought ships and a zeppelin, but no cars or tractors?

  4. Interesting that simply “Frankfurt” is Frankfurt (Oder), whereas “Frankfurt A/M” specifies Frankurt (Main).

Seems like the latter was not as important back then as it is today?

  5. To be honest, I dont recognize a single thing from my hometown of Hanover.

Edit: the long building is the Welfenschloss, but I have no idea why you would pick that instead of our town hall and I dont know what the rest is

  6. I find it interesting how they’ve outlined the land lost in WWI, just to make it plain that they still think of it as German. The Polish corridor, Poznań and Gdańsk, Memel, Eupen-Malmedy, Alsace-Lorraine, and probably Schleswig too if it weren’t for it going off the map

  7. Makes me sad we will never see the pre war cities. Really makes me wish there is time travel. Or the whole nature in Germany, it is not like nowadays

  8. Tourist city of Ludwigshafen? Couldn’t be further from truth then and now.

Also: why is Fehmarn marked orange? It is no longer Danish since 1864.
