Our entire manta of ‘mustn’t grumble’ and ‘keep calm and carry on’ rather than aid us, instead seems to make us complacent and arrogant in the face of real danger, assured that we can just breeze on through any trouble with nary a hint of caution.
I’m not surprised he came up with such an idea, when so many in my own life were so sure it was all overblown nonsense, and even refused to cancel their holidays as the whole world went into crisis mode. There’s a real lack of prudence in some people.
Which would have done nothing, especially as he would have had to wait a few days to see the effects. He would need to inhale COVID somehow for it to take action, that is how respiratory viruses work. It is like how you cannot catch HIV from direct contact: viruses have one mechanism of action and having them enter your system via other means does nothing.
Makes me wonder if he got infected ‘accidentally on purpose’ to prove it was ‘nothing to worry about’. That didn’t pan out too well, did it??
