France says car ads must come with a caveat: Walk, bike or take public transit instead

  1. And not so long ago France blocked the Van Moof bike commercial because it stated that biking is a sustainable alternative to inner city transport. But hey, Frenchies gonna French

  2. It says they have to include those pre-approved messages, does the law make any mention of context? Could they play the “Consider walking or taking public transport” message while showing a bunch of miserable looking people trudging through heavy rain toward a filthy looking bus?

  3. Good intentions, but it’s not going to change anything. Nobody reads the fine print in commercials.

  4. So very much like gambling adverts or Alcohol with their “If the fun stops, stop” and “Please drink responsibiliy”

They add them by law and its a good message but im unsure how turely effective they are when it comes down to the real world, every day person on street.

  5. Next they should come with a health warning like cigarettes printed on the door e.g. “diesel emissions kill x people per annum in Paris” or “you dont really need a chelsea tractor to carry your kids to school”

  6. Wow that convinced me to sell my X5 and change 3 trains for twice the cost compared to driving every time I go on vacation. Thanks Macron!

  7. Here’s this amazing, affordable, electric car. It comes with a great infotainment system, AC, comfortable seats, plenty of trunk space, it has 500km range on a single 10 minute charge, it’s quiet, 5 star safety rating. It’s a Toyota so you know it’s going to outlive your grandkids.

Also, how about public transportation or riding a bicycle, eh?
