I just changed my Google Pixel 4a, it worked perfectly but google does not support it anymore and no security updates are made available.
The best way of shinking the carbon footprint is to stop buying new. I havent bought a new phone since iphone4, buy used
Man, I have an old iPhone. Nearly 7 years old.
I would get a new battery in a heartbeat if they continued to support it.
I’d even pay $2 a month after year 6 to have it supported for longer.
I think they’re missing out on a big revenue stream.
But what about the poor shareholders’ profits? Are you even considering that?

Honestly, I would love more long term support for these devices; I already hold onto my device until it will not be supported anymore.
I keep my phone for an average of 5 years each and I shame anyone I know who gets a new one every year. Doesn’t matter how rich one is, new phones aren’t technological jumps like they used to be.
There’s no guarantee that 1 year old used phones will even go to a new user. That’s the best case scenario, but it’s not guaranteed.
